About

Young Democrats of McHenry County(YDMC, or Young Dems McHenry Co.) is aggressivley working on becoming an official charter of Young Democrats of Illinois(YDI). As a completely volunteer-led organization, YDMC mobilizes young people under the age of 38 to participate in the electoral process to elect Democrats, advocate for progressive issues, and train the next generation of progressive leaders. Our membership reflects the broad diversity of our nation and the Democratic Party. Participation in the YDMC allows members to network with their peers from across McHenry County, surrounding counties, and the opportunity to sharpen their political skills.

What we do

• Meet up - Democratic activists from around the county participate in trainings, workshops, hear from elected leaders, and conduct organizational business. These meetings are also opportunities to share and learn from one another as we build a community of Democratic activists committed to change.

• Focus on Issues - actively highlight issues important in mobilizing young voters through social media and traditional media. YDMC supports digital petitions, hosts issue-based conversations, and holds both in-person and digital rallies to advance our policy priorities and priorities important to our members.

• Engage. Educate. Empower. - connecting with young undecided potential voters to get them educated on our national election system, engaging them through voter registration and local leaders talks, and empowering them to use their voice and their vote to be the change they want to see in the world.
